The New Ethics of AI (Markus Gabriel, René Scheu) | DLD 24
Following a brief introduction by publicist René Scheu, German philosopher and bestselling author Marcus Gabriel (University of Bonn) presents his vision for a new ethical framework for artificial intelligence.
He argues that AI systems can be designed to positively impact social change if their goal is to further moral progress. While AI may not truly be intelligent like humans, implementing AI systems disrupts society so their development needs normative guidance.
Gabriel proposes cooperatively building an AI system aimed at studying and enhancing human moral thinking, which would “lead to novel, morally relevant insight into who we are, who we want to be, and most importantly, who we ought to become.” The DLD Conference channel features all talks held at past conferences and our digital format DLD Sync as well as the highlights of our events.
